We will continue to use the district math curriculum called Math Expressions. It focuses on problem-solving in everyday situations, frequent practice of basic skills,

Your child will have a math workbook. This will be a student journal that provides problems for daily practice. They will also have a Homework and Remembering workbook that they can bring home for homework. I assign homework Monday-Thursday. If your child takes more than 30 minutes to finish please feel free to write me note. Unit Standards:

5.NF.1

1. Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators.

Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole, including cases of unlike denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. The basic themes are as follows: Introduction to History, the America's before 1492, Age of European Exploration, Colonization to Colonial America, Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and Labor, American Revolution and the Constitution. Students will also be learning about how our government was constructed and operates. In addition, students will be learning the

geography of the United States by studying regions.
